Make Sure Your Airport Stress Is Kept Minimal!
Hopefully most UK travellers abroad enjoyed their Easter break and had a trouble free experience at the airport. It was an especially busy Easter for travel abroad with more than 370,000 passengers flying from Heathrow airport between Good Friday and Easter Monday, and 200,000 through Gatwick. There were unfortunate passengers affected by the French air traffic strikes. Passengers caught in travel chaos triggered by striking air traffic controllers have accused their airlines of neglecting them.
UK and Irish airlines had to axe scores of flights while others were disrupted, with the delays and cancellations affecting not only services to and from France but also flights to other parts of Europe.
Ryanair cancelled 250 flights on the Wednesday, with the airports affected including Birmingham, Luton, Leeds Bradford, Stansted, East Midlands and Dublin.
Among the destinations on Ryanair’s cancelled list are Alicante and Malaga in Spain and Marrakech in Morocco.
Remember, if you have endured a flight delay of over 3 hours, airlines may have to pay you compensation in certain circumstances. Take a look at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-delays
You are only entitled to the compensation if the delay was something within the airline’s control. Staffing problems and under booking all count. Yet political unrest in a country or bad weather make claiming a no-go. Depending on your travel insurance policy, you could be able to claim compensation from your insurer when the delay isn’t the airline’s fault. Check your policy terms and conditions for what situations it’ll cover.
Airport Parking Made Easy:
If you are planning a trip from Heathrow, one sure way to keep stress to a minimum is to make sure you combine your flight with meet & greet parking from VIP. With meet and greet parking you are met outside the Heathrow terminal by a VIP driver who then takes your car away to be securely parked in the off-site car-park which has Park Mark accreditation. This means no bus transfer is necessary. On date of return, providing you follow the simple instructions in the booking paperwork, your car will be brought to you outside the terminal ready to drive home.
VIP offer three options of meet & greet parking so customers can choose the level of service dependant on their budget. FLEXI is the on-call option and is especially recommended for travel during busy periods such as Easter where Heathrow is even more frenetic than usual. Customers who book VIP FLEXI have priority customer status which means minimal waiting time regardless of whether their flight lands earlier or later than scheduled. VIP even offers a loyalty scheme where customers are rewarded for every 3 bookings with a free gift of their choice.
